01 Sep Competency Development for Project Management in Public Sector
Competency Development for Project Management in Public Sector was continued with the second part of the project management training based on PM2 that was held at the premises of the Customs Administration in Belgrade. This methodology is recommended by the European Commission for project management in state administrations and is promoted in our country by IPMA Serbia.
PM² aims to establish common terminology and common project management processes within and among European organizations, whether they are public or private. PM² strives to increase the efficiency and success rate of projects in Europe.
The training program for the development of project management competencies began in June 2022 and is intended for employees from the Ministry of Finance, the Customs Administration, and the Treasury Administration of the Republic of Serbia. The project is financed by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and the experts of IPMA Serbia participate in the implementation.
During the first part of the training, the participants acquired knowledge and developed competencies for project management according to PM2. With the support of a mentor, they managed to individually apply PM2 tools to their project after the first part of the training, workshops, exercises, and lectures. The entire training program is aimed at developing project management competencies in state administration.
The training program for the development of project management competencies includes training for project management software solutions, with the aim of using developed software solutions for more efficient implementation of the project management process.
In addition, the Training of Trainers program which educated future trainers and builds capacities of the Ministry of Finance, the Customs Administration, and the Treasury Administration for internal training and development, has been completed. This program aims to ensure the sustainability of the project and the long-term application of project management methodology.
The program for the development of competencies for project management contributes to the systematization of existing knowledge for project management and the development of new competencies at the individual level. At the organizational level, it contributes to the development of teams for managing projects of varying complexity and preparation for numerous donor projects and cooperation in an international environment. This project represents a significant step forward in the development of project management in the state administration of the Republic of Serbia.
